What is chiropractic?

‘The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her of his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.’
Thomas Edison

Chiropractic literally means by hand in Greek. Chiropractors use a range of techniques to adjust various joints in the body. We believe that the body is self healing and self regulating and that because functions in the body are controlled by the nervous system, any interference with that system can cause symptoms.

Many people come to us because they get relief from pain and stiffness as symptoms. We believe that symptoms are just a way of your body telling you there is a problem and so we try to find the cause of the problem by using orthopaedic, neurological and chiropractic tests. We call this conservative care because it is gentle, non-invasive unlike surgery and does not mask the symptoms as painkillers do.

The nervous system controls every function in the body, every cell has communication from the brain through this wiring system.  If there is any interference with this system then things will not work as well as they should.  Chiropractic can determine where any interference may be and remove it thereby enabling the body to function as well as it can.

There are several things that can affect how well your body functions these are physical, chemical and emotional .

Emotional:  if you are stressed we all know that you may get tight muscles or headaches for example,

Chemical:  are you eating the right foods for your body to heal and repair, what are you putting in your body that may affect it adversely?

Physical:  Are you moving your body, are you sat still for long periods of time? Are you able to move it properly, have you injured it?
